I am buying my first pair of dumbbells tomorrow since I am unable to go to the gym. I'm not really sure which weight I should start off with since I am a total beginner at exercising. What do you guys think? p.s. I'm not very strong... yet! lol :)

You are going to need to progressively load more weight to challenge yourself. See here http://cdnutritionandfitness.com/maintenance-training-vs-improvement-training/

And it obviously depends on what exercises you want to do, how strong you are now.

I'd also be looking at body weight based exercises. Your muscles don't know if you are moving iron or your body.

For a woman, I'd probably recommend about 5-7.5kg weights for most upper body exercises to start with. To aboid getting heaps of weights, a resistance band is good also and you can use them together to make it progressively more difficult.
