Is it ok to work arms and skip legs after ankle injury

I had scheduled to start a beginners weight training routine tomorrow that included some squats for the leg work out. Unfortunatly I sprained my ankle three weeks ago so squats hurt too much for me to do. Do you think I would be ok starting off my routine and leaving out the squats and and just focusing on the arms stuff until I feel 100% or should I hold off altogether?

Do what you can do. Don't let an ankle injury stop you from doing upper body, and you can still get on the machines and at least do leg extensions and leg curls. The basics, squats, bench, OHP, and deads should be the central part of your program, but substitutes are better than nothing.0
