hello so I have done some research... both my tdee and caloric needs are 1460, I burn about 300 calories walking on the treadmill, so I consume 1500 then subtract the 300 every day making it 1200 calories after the work out. Should I eat 250ish calories more to maintain? or does this mean I am "double dipping" my calories? (I put my tdee as sedentary) Please help

Add your exercise calories to maintain.
So i eat those 300 back to maintain? Plus an extra 260 to equal out to 1460? Sorry so many questions! Lol I am terrible with math0 -
Where's the 260 come from? and I dont understand the "both tdee and caloric needs are 1460"
Eat your TDEE to maintain. Meaning if you need to eat 1460 calories to meet TDEE and you work out to burn 300 calories, you eat 1760 to *NET* TDEE (1760-300=1460).
If your BMR is 1460, you eat any activity over that to meet TDEE, so if you burn an additional 200 calories walking around in the day, plus the 300 working out, plus another 100 cleaning, you'll eat 2060 to net TDEE calories.
Edit: MFP goals can be changed to show maintenance... it will tell you what to do to save you from getting confused.
--Re-reading your original question, if your activity level is set at sedentery, log the excercise and eat what MPF tells you. Double dipping would be if you set your activity level to account for the excercise daily then logged it as well.0 -
Best not to confuse the two main ways of working out your calorie needs.
Either:
Work out TDEE properly (including your planned exercise) and eat that amount every day irrespective of what exercise you do that day.
OR
Follow the MFP method with settings to "maintain current weight" in which case you would log and eat back your exercise calories.
There is a forum for people maintaining weight where you will find loads of usual info and experience....
