Number of Calories and Weight Loss: What to watch for?

Hi all
I started this MFP journey a few months ago and the weight started coming off quickly...I am so happy about it but I would like to keep this pace and prevent any "plateau" if I can. I exercise only slightly because of a serious knee injury (will have a surgery this year) so I would like to optimize my diet as much as I ca. I still have 50lb to go so I would love to benefit from the most experienced MFPs. Can you share your experiences on:
1) What level of calories to watch for? I am currently around 1300 cal (MFP suggested 1290 at start but I added 40cal - I was starving at first - and I am still losing at least 2lb a week)
2) What nutrient is more crucial to watch in terms of nutrients? Sugar, Carbs, Fat, Protein?? Based on your experiences?
3) When to know when to increase or decrease your calorie allowance or does MFP do it for you when you lose more weight??
Thanks a bunch in advance and so glad we have this huge and supportive communauty. Great day all!
