It's great isn't it! I loved the film and was a little apprehensive about a TV show but I love it so far :)

    Yes, and it's terrific.

I think BBT's acting is superb...

I'm glad it's on as I need something to fill the void left by the end of "True Detective".

I'm going to catchup on both tonight. I love Martin Freeman. Already had my daily dose of GOT.

I loved the movie and I really liked the first two episodes. I'm a Coen fangirl anyway, so I may be slightly biased.

Seems strange to me to turn the film into a series (isn't it usually the other way around) but I've recorded it to watch anyway. I did watch a bit and was surprised how similar it seemed to the film, I think I thought it would be telling the story from a different point of view or something. Not that I can really remember the film that well, haven't seen it for years.

for some reason them dunking the guy in the ice while that haunting song played at the end of episode two hooked me.

i can't stand how they talk and almost stopped watching halfway through episode one because of it.

Hear hear! I'm not a BBT fan but I'm loving him in this series. I am, however, a huge fan of Fargo the movie and I still think the series is top notch. The same feel as the film but a different story altogether. Reimagined, in a way. The cinematography and music are both fantastic, and I would NEVER have believed I would buy Martin Freeman in this role but do I? Oh yah, you betcha!

well if you believe what they say in the begining about it being based on a true story occuring in 2006 then the series couldn't possible have anyting to do with the movie other then location

Yeah, you're right in that it could have been a disaster if they had simply tried to "copy" the film - it would have been like one of those crappy covers of a classic song. It has that kooky, surreal feel with very dark humour which makes you feel slightly guilty for laughing.
