How to maintain my weight after my diet?

Okay so I’ve only got 9lb to lose, (going to 125lb). This wont take long as I haven’t dieted consistently in 4.5mounths so my metabolism is up and the weight is falling off as if I’ve just started (I’ve lost like 3lb this week) yay! Anyway I have to stay at the right weight after, its essential. How can I ensure I maintain the weight?
Most of the people around me maintain on about 1700 a day, although some go lower, like 12-1500 as they are jockeys (oh forgot to mention I’m getting to this weight to do flat racing exercise riding) I was thinking of alternating between 1500 and 2000 a day to stay light, and if there is a special occasion (like a birthday) I can eat more but go down to 1200 the next day. Do you think it will work?
P.s. please remember I’m not following a regular vanity diet to stay fit or just in shape.

When you hit your goal change your goal to maintenance (0 pounds loss per week) and eat what it tells you. Log your exercise.0

Exactly - or use an online calculator such as the following to figure it out. You should never, ever just "look at the people around you" and guess what you should do based on their experience. This is because your body is completely different than theirs. Thankfully this is really simple - just tick in your stats and it'll spit out the number of calories you need to eat.

Add 100 calories a week until you're up to what it says to eat. Check your weight once a week. If you start to gain over 3-4 lbs cut back. If you start to lose add more.0

Eat your TDEE. It's that easy.
But the way you ask the question suggests that you won't have success. You don't "go on a diet" if you want to keep the weight off; you learn to eat in a healthy and sustainable way, the weight comes off, and you continue eating the way you've learned. Forever.0
