I have mostly been walking for exercise, and I love it.. because I get to just zone out while listening to an audiobook and burning calories. I will not stop walking but I'm ready to introduce some more strength training. I don't have access to a good gym or any equipment (other than two 5KG dumbbells).

I'm not awfully fit and I'm obese, so I'm looking for something a beginner/intermediate could do ad build from there. Any advice?

I like the Crunch:SuperSlimdown dvd, it's a yoga/pilates combo and very low impact. Good place to start for strength and flexibility. No weights involved but you still build muscle! I like Jillian Michaels 30 day shred too, but definitely not low-impact.

I searched for Crunch:SuperSlimdown to see what it was about, and I actually found the whole thing on YouTube! Thank you, looks like a good workout for a day when I don't feel like jumping around. I have done 30 day shred a year or so ago and it kicked my butt! I modified a lot of moves but I loved it. I wonder how I fare now. Definitely on my to-do menu!

There are a lot of great workouts on YouTube. BeFit and Fitness Blender have tons! If you can't afford to buy more weights right now, you could look up bodyweight exercises. Be Your Own Gym is supposed to be good. I think that's a book and also they have an app.

    All good advice above.

T25 is also worth looking at. It's great for not just burning calories but can really help get you in shape from head to toe. Balance, strength, endurance, etc.

The most important thing is to pick something challenging but that you can still commit to and then keep with it.
