Late night cravings

I've eaten all my regular calories plus all but 15 of my exercise calories, so I don't have anything else to work with. Mostly, I want a Dr. Pepper - I love Dr. Pepper, can drink several in a day if I let myself. Today, for the first time in a long time, I didn't have any - mostly to prove to myself that I can do it. I don't intend to cut it out entirely or forever, but I do need to cut way back. Even more importantly, I need to practice saying no on occasion to things that I want, but aren't good for me.
I almost had one a few minutes ago - I had actually added it to my diary and pulled it out of the refrigerator. At the time, I had the calories, though not the carbs. Then I put it back, and had some tuna salad instead - something else I really like, and more filling than the drink. But, it wasn't what I was craving, so I'm still thinking about it.
I'm currently reading and following the Beck Diet Solution, which includes creating Response Cards to deal with difficult situations and sabotaging thoughts. Last night, when planning to skip the Dr. Pepper entirely for today, I wrote the following card:
Sabotaging thought: I really want a Dr. Pepper right now; one won't hurt.
Helpful response: Dr. Pepper has done nothing good for my body. I don't ever need it. I may plan to have one later as a special treat, but I really don't need it right now. Plus, by resisting this craving now, I'm strengthening what Dr. Beck calls my "resistance muscle." If I'm thirsty, I should go get a glass of water.
I've read this card a lot today!
Anyway, I'm just posting now as a way of reinforcing my desire NOT to give in to this craving. I just clicked the "complete entry" button on today's diary; if every day was like today, I'd weigh 5.1 pounds less in five weeks. That's where I want to be; an extra can of Dr. Pepper here and there isn't going to help me get there.

Late night Cravings!!!!! my down fall. I quit drinking sodas, all sodas, even diet on March 12th. I don't want them anymore. If I start back I can't control it so it's easier for me to do without. Last night I ate 21 sour gummies. I was sleepy and tired and instead of going to bed that's what I did. My cravings are much worse at late night so I know what you're talking about!0
