Ok I am a little confused here, any help would be great. I just finished exercising with my wii fitness and it told me i jogged 4 miles but I wore my pedometer and it told me i only jogged 1.5 miles. has anyone else had this happen? am i totally missing something here? and which do i believe? thanks

  • My pedometer has NEVER worked. I have had 4 different ones and they are always incorrect. I walk around a park and it is clearly marked with the mile markers. I can walk 4 miles at the park and my pedometer says I walked barely a mile one day and 3 miles the next time. I would be more apt to believe the WII over the pedometer. Good luck!
  • I'm not an expert on pedometers or Wii but your question causes me to wonder if a pedometer that is calibrated to actually walking can be used accurately to measure walking as it might occur using a Wii. I did a Google search for Wii and pedometers and it appears that there are pedometers for use with Wii. Another option is to use the pedometer and walk a measured mile. Record your time. Then do the same with the Wii. When you walk the same time using Wii, you should then be able to determine if the pedometer is calibrated for the Wii and/or if the Wii is correct or not. Hope this helps.

I find that the Wii greatly exaggerates how far you run. For instance, according to the Wii, I can run six miles in half an hour. I don't know about you, but to average a mile every five minutes is a little hard to believe. Half of that would be much more likely. I also find that the Wii can under estimate the calories burned during exercises such as the Free Run, as it tells me that I burn the same amount of calories if I walk 3 miles that I burn running for the aforementioned "six" miles.
