Losing the "love-pounds" and "freshman 15"

My name is Emma.
Teacher-student from Sweden.

In March last year I met my first love and we are still going steady. He has helped me a lot with my bodyimage. I stoped binging and purging and gained a few pounds which thanks to my guy didn't bother me at all. But then I started the university and the weight started piling on, because of beer, to much of just sitting stil and a lot of junk food and candy. So in just a year I have gained 30 pounds! (from 136 pounds to almost 170 lbs). I need to change my habits!

This summer I will not have to work or study! So this summer is all about changing habits. I want to eat more healthy, get more exercise and most of all I am going to quit smoking! Habits that I can also keep when I start studying again in September.

In the end I do want to lose those 30 pounds, but at a healthy pace. For me it is more important for me to focus on being healthy and moving than obsessing over numbers on the scale, I just do not want to be that girl anymore.

MFP seems like a great place for me to reach my goal and right now I use it to help me understand more just what I have put in my body the last year so I will get a better understanding for why I have gained weight to make sure I do not gain more weight. Preparing for myself to really start working for a better health in summer. The starting point will be when I quit smoking in June!

    Hi Emma -- congrats on your goal setting! We have similar starting weights and goal weights, and I also have some previous unhealthy food behaviors that I'm trying to avoid. I'd be happy to support you :) What do you want to do for exercise?

    The exercise I mostly want to do in summer is walking to indoor-walking exercise videos. It also show how many miles I have walked so aiming at 4 to 8 miles a day :)
    What kind of exercise do you like to do?

    sorry for the delay -- busy busy!! i've started couch to 5k and just finished week 5, and then also am using jillian michael's 30 day shred on off days. this is more intense than i have done in the past, but i feel great and recommend both!
