It is usually related to celiac or a gluten intolerance. Celiac is an auto-immune disease, where the gluten damages the small intestine. The only treatment for celiac is to never eat gluten again.
When you are gluten free you have to cut out all wheat products, barley, rye and some type of oats. Everything that you eat you have to read the labels to make sure that there is no gluten in it.
I would not recommend switching to a gluten free diet unless you have to. It is not something easy to do and for the first couple of weeks of being gluten free it feels like you are going through a withdrawal.0 -
I went gluten free for 5 weeks over the summer. It wasn't easy at first but it gets better. The key is planning. I brought snacks with me everywhere I went just in case there weren't gluten free options. Make sure to do plenty of research before starting. You will be surprised at what items in your kitchen have gluten. Even some seasonings have gluten. Check out www.gicare.com. They have a list of ingredients to look for on food labels. At the end of it, I felt great. I'm working my way back to gluten free now.0

Hey there,
Gutlen free foods are foods that don't contain gluten which you get from, wheat, barley, rye and oats.
It is highly recommended for people with coeliac disease, and it helps with peolpe that have Crohns' disease or other types of irritable bowel disease. Weight loss can occur when switching from a "normal' diet to and gluten free diet as you are cutting out the whole"gluten" bit as itin excess eventually turns to sugars then fat.
Pros:
you feel better, less bloating and gas not so lethargic.... ( Do i need to say more)
Cons:
you have to read every food label (but it's not hard once you know what to look for)
It can be expencive to buy gluten free foods, check the net for online stores
Foods to cut out... well... anything that has wheat, oats, braley and rye in them.
Look out for maltodextrin as that can be derived from wheat, corn flour as that is usually highly procesed wheat flour usless label says otherwise stated.
If you are going to change your diet i can highly recommened it i have been on it for yeras now and as i have crohns disease and i have never felt better, regardless of that my B/F is on it too and really enjoys that lasagne i make with gluten free lasgane sheets.
hope it help
