Apps for Exercise

I am currently working on gathering my baseline data and will not be going back to the gym until June. When I do back I need to track my calories burned activity.
My current setup is this:
I use my Withings Pulse to monitor Activity (steps, elevation, distance, sleep cycle and heart rate) it makes caloric adjustments via my daily walking activity only when I do a longer stretch of walking, for example my afternoon walk around the parking lots, or my saturday and sunday 1.8 mile walk around the block. This information is fed into, only partially to MFP. I use MFP to log what I eat so I know how many calories are taken in, this is fed into my Withings account in order to see if I am net positive or negative in calories for the day.
So when I do things like say an Eliptical Machine (which I will in order to lower my to high heart rate) should I jot down the calories burned from the readout and put them into MFP under cardio exercise or allow my Pulse to do that? When I do weight training how should I go about that?
1 - is just jotting them down on paper and putting them in to myfitness pal under exercise going to be good, for example say I did 10 push ups, that would go under strength but it takes energy to do them, will the energy expended to do them be calculated and put into my calories burned?
2 - is there a good app that I can use to log my activity that will work well with Myfitness Pal and my Withings Pulse?
Thank you,
S
