Sedentary or light?

So what do you all consider sedentary? I'm a stay at home mom, I spend my days on the computer, watching tv with the kids or household chores. I walk 2-3 days a week for an hour. Is that sedentary or light activity? I was set on light activity, and I've lost only 6lbs in 4 months. Now, I've lost 56lbs in a year, but I have stalled. And though I've never used a scale, maybe now I should?

That doesn't sound very sedentary to me.... unless the chores are few and far between. BUT if you are accurately logging everything that goes into your mouth and not losing, then there's something wrong with the numbers.

I think a food scale is the perfect place to start because even if you measure everything its not as accurate as possible. Think about how much more brown sugar is in a packed cup than a loose cup.... they definitely don't weigh the same or have the same amount of calories, right? So the same goes for other things, like cheese. A scale can help with that.

Sedentary is for people who don't do any exercise at all (bed or wheelchair bound). You are Lightly Active. If you stalled for about a month or more then you need to get back your calorie deficiency. If your current method of calculating your calories is no longer working then by all means get a food scale.

Thanks for your responses! I feel stagnate. I mean 2-3hrs of walking a week, seems like nothing. But maybe I am light activity.

Can you all recommend a scale that isn't to expensive?

It doesn't sound sedentary to me either. :)

As to scales, there are some great ones on Amazon or even at Walmart for just a few bucks. :)

Try moving with the kids. All that TV is not good for anyone.

If it was warmer here we would be outside. And with one vehicle which my husband takes to work, kind of limits our activities. We do run around the house and play or chase one another, we do dance to music. But we also watch movies.

Sedentary and add your one hour walks as exercise those days. Or use TDEE-20% and use lightly active (which I suggest really).

    And yes.. weigh your food!

My TDEE is 2095 (that's with 3 times a week exercise level via IIFYM) -20% is 1676. So I would eat that but don't eat back my exercise cals, correct?

Yes... that's why I use it, lol. It was such a pain to track every single workout.
