Staying on track by joining you guys!

Hi I am Jenni and I am looking for friends. I don't have too many friends right now on the same journey as I am. I have plenty of friends wanting to lose weight, but not willing to do anything it takes--like going hiking with me. I have some people around me who are very supportive, but no one who is actually doing this with me. This is where you guys come in. You all seem to be on different levels of the same goal here--healthier lives.

I have really whipped my diet into shape and as of now I am a vegetarian. I have too much of an appetite for portion control, so I eat as much as I want of the good stuff (veggies, fruits and grains). I occasionally sneak a cookie as that was my biggest weakness before, but do not allow myself a cheat day. 1 day can undo my whole week with the horrible diet I had before.

My exercise on the other hand needs work. I have a lot of physical restrictions that prevent me from doing a lot of workouts. I'm still pushing through and trying to find things that work for me, but I would say this is what I need the most help with.

So to round it all up, I'm looking for friends here that can help and/or related to my specific needs as I can do the same with them. I'd love to be able to set goals and compete or talk about a tasty new vegetarian recipe.

Welcome Jenni! Cookies are delicious and a weakness for many (mine is sugary cereals) but usually they will spike that insulin (most grains do as well) and decrease insulin resistance(bad), so it is good you avoid them. As far as exercise what do you like to do?

Hi! My name is also Jennifer Lee, and I am also veg. Although I'm raw now, I have a huge database of plant-based recipes.
(Including many that I ave served to meat-eaters at dinner parties, and got rave reviews!)

My exercise generally consists of treadmilling while binge watching something on my Kindle. (Last week, Downton Abbey; this week, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.)

Congrats on the 39 pounds! That's quite an accomplishment already!

As I mentioned, I have physical restrictions at the moment. Between my back (arthritis of the spine, bulging discs, and early signs of degenerative disc disease), my ankles (Very stiff and pop non stop), and knee (old car accident injury), it's hard to find workouts that don't put me out for a few days after doing them. For example. I did a power walk/jog last night for over an hour. I gave up earlier than I was ready to because my ankles couldn't handle it anymore. I'm not going to be able to jog again for 2-3 days, or jumping jacks, or anything that requires my ankles--they're done! So it can get really discouraging. I need workouts that are effective but don't put so much strain on certain parts of my body; especially my ankles! Maybe also workouts that will strengthen my ankles, back, and knees without killing them?

Thank you! I have been busting butt changing my habits into healthier ones and it shows! I can't do the raw (vegan) diet--it's too restrictive. I'm working myself into a better diet step by step as to not overwhelm myself. So far I have cut our most processed sugars, all lactose products, all animal meat, and really increased my water and veggie intake.

Any suggestion for a good lunch today? I'm getting burnt out on what I have been doing, which isn't much.
