Losing 80 to 100lbs...

So I already know that this is going to take a LONG time. It might take a year or even two. I've accepted that. However, I've noticed that many people come to a sort of plateau after they've lost 40-60 pounds...I definitely did.

Let's say you eat well and exercise, gradually building up your exercise in intensity. Would that keep you from plateauing?

In general I'm just having anxiety and worries about losing this much weight. I don't even know where to get started and frankly, I don't want to look at a scale right now. I know this is about how much I need to lose. The last time I weighed myself I was at 237 and I'm sure I've gone up by 10-20 pounds by now..So I probably need to lose more like 120...

I'm just really scared that I won't make any progress. Is there anybody out there who has lost that much weight and has any advice? Thank you!

If you are doing Paleo the weight should come off relatively steady as long as your body isn't stubborn and there are some things that can make them stubborn. Plateauing is common on any lifestyle change you just have to ride it out or adjust things if and when it happens. I am down over 60 pounds and have plateaued a few times but I made some adjustments and it kick started back up.

When your body plateaus you only need to give it a kick-start.
Trick it into thinking you're back in maintenance mode for a little bit then hit the workouts twice as hard for a little while, kickstarting your weightloss again.

As long as you maintain a healthy caloric deficit, your pounds will come off, regardless of what you choose to eat.

Lost 50. Maintained at 40 less. You are very young, do it while you can easily. Do the work. It will happen and soon. Think in terms of a 6-12 month time frame for the whole show.

Years ago when I was trying to diet, I would "plateau" because I was eating more and not counting it. If you plateau, it's probably because you either didn't account for your reduced bmr after losing weight or you are eating more than you're admitting to yourself.

My advice is to eat maintenance for a few days or a week if you plateau. Give yourself a break from the diet and then get back to it. People sabotage themselves and give up out of frustration.

I lost the first 100 lbs pretty steadily. It took about 2 years. I had much more dramatic losses the first few weeks but, as expected, they leveled off. You'll have some weeks that you stay the same...but that does not necessarily indicate a plateau. I even had some weeks that I gained...that's life! I didn't workout consistently until I lost around 80 lbs. Weight loss is primarily about what and how much we eat.

I hit my toughest stall after I lost 100 lbs. But I was persistent and I eventually began losing again. You can do this. One step at a time. Set small goals, like 5 pounds, 5%, etc.

Take control. Log accurately. Realize that this is about being the healthiest version of you that you can be. It's not about becoming a size 2 as soon as possible :-) When the focus was on health, not weight...I succeeded!

Best of Luck. Feel free to friend me.
