What about going for a grunge theme? Jeans, flannel, combat boots or converse...or you could be Courtney Love and wear a baby doll dress, messy hair and smeared red lipstick. Sounds like fun! I love any reason to wear a costume.0

Google 90's trends, it seems it was a boring time. LOL. Good Luck0

I would have a million suggestions for an 80's party, but I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to come up with 90's:
In the 90's I let music dictate my fashion so unfortunately, all I can suggest is Doc Martens and Flannels0 -
Don't forget about rolling the end of your jeans...colorful scrunched socks too.0

i used to wear a lot of skirts and industrial boots; bandanas over morning hair, makeup over makeup. One thing to remember (at least in Seattle) was the 90s had sort of a reaction to late 80s glam, so it was far more natural, far easier-going. A lot of late-night parties made a person have to be rather sloppy for work.0

Seattle was home to some good music too!0 -
scrunchies!!! slap bracelets! bright colored denim....for the more girly look
overalls with one strap hooked! LOL
oh yes the grunge look was awesome! Doc Martens are still hot on a guy!0 -
Get a shoe box and decorate it like it's a cell phone and act like it's the coolest thing anyone has ever seen (remember those big old cell phones that people had way back then...?)0
-
Perhaps wear your clothes backwards ala Kriss Kross and Another Bad Creation.0
-
I just remembered too: layers. Because the day was so unpredictable you had to wear everything at once.0

yeah, 90s are too soon, like I can't identify the trend. I do remember grunge though, that's a good idea-we wore overalls, but those don't really flatter anyone;) maybe catch some early episodes of 90210 on Soap Network!0

Go as someone from Saved By The Bell.0

Yeah, you def need to take a Zack Morris Phone! Hammer pants if you can find them. Also, the suit or blazer or sports jacket with the rolled up sleeves. suspenders. Or you could go as Monica Lewinsky...0 -
I rocked the whole grunge thing in the 90's, really easy to throw together to0

Big teased bangs (remember Kelly on Married with Children?), stirrup pants and long sweaters (which were really comfy).0

You could do late 90's. Think bright glossy lip-gloss (almost purply), baby tee that says something obnoxious, like "Spoiled Brat" or "Don't hate me because your boyfriend thinks I'm beautiful". Flair jeans, piggy tails for only half your hair - just the front.
If you have any old wash off N Sync tatoos, that'd do too! Heehee0 -

ahhhhh....memories!!! LOL0 -
If there was any way to hit a thrift store on the way home you can just go to the dress rack!
Anything from Clueless, Friends, Saved by the Bell, or In Living Color. Or Blossom
LOVE LOVE LOVE the cell phone idea! But you have to refer to it as your "portable phone"
Dont forget a headband!

and doc mary janes for women... striped socks, the dress someone posted was perfect, scooped neck with a tie in the back, floral printed. it was like a cross between feminine industrial farmer.0 -
Oh I was all about hiking boots, high waisted short shorts with a t-shirt tucked in and a flannel over it.0
