1 year difference! and question.

So i found a picture i had taken last year around this time and decided to make a before and after because i remember being horrified at how big i looked after taking that one. I've lost about 50 pounds in a years time. I'm down to 146-149 ( i fluctuate) and i'm 5'9
So everyone in my life has taken to telling me im too thin. I know this is pretty normal. I however want to drop another 15 pounds but everyone keeps being really negative about it saying ill be gross. My best friend told me that i look like im from ethiopia today. I just want to know when you guys chose to maintain? I've been flirting with maintaining and its been o.k but truth be told i don't feel ready yet.
Also i have lots of loose skin. Did you guys account for the weight of your skin when choosing a maitenence weight?(my highest weight was around 300 thus the skin) obviously i can't say exactly how much it weighs.
Thanks for your responses ahead of time.

What kind of exercises do you do? It doesn't really look like you need to lose weight... maybe you're looking to get more toned? Try strength training, it would help you get leaner without necessarily losing lbs (and as mentioned above, would help with the loose skin as well).

Edit, because I saw your response after I posted: If you have access to a bar, the Stronglifts 5x5 program is great :) Lots of info available online.

Please don't lose any more weight, I agree with the other comments, just start concentrating on toning up and adding definition

I've read people giving all sorts of opinions when you lose a lot of weight - mostly I believe those comments are out of concern, even if they don't sound very friendly. Saying that, and looking at your photos, I think there may be another element to it.

You have lost a lot of weight but you are focusing on the scale. You know there is loose skin weight, but you have an 'ideal' weight 'number' in your head and you're holding on to it in spite of the feedback you're getting. How would you feel about hiding the scale away for a couple of months and focus on progress photos?

In my humble opinion, what you seem to be missing is muscle mass. You don't seem to have a lot of fat left, but because you are not very toned, your loved ones worry you are becoming mall-nourished or ill. Weight training would provide you with the muscle mass that will burn the remaining fat.

The more muscle you have, the more calories you need, the more 24/7 your fat burning capacity increases. I am not a specialist, but go on the forums and search for 'eat more to weight less' threads. Have a look at the ladies who lift, look at their bodies, their achievements, their diaries. They eat a lot and lift heavy. They look feminine and sexy and happy and healthy. I am following everything they say and the results have been pretty good - I have also put the scales aside. I don't care about my weight, that is not what I see when I look in the mirror, a number. I see my body and I want it to look healthy and strong, lean, happy. I hope some of this makes sense and is helpful and I wish you all the best in your journey.

I honestly don't think you need to lose more weight, you're quite tall for being a girl so you carry your weight in a different way. You might even end up gaining some muscle weight if you choose to turn to resistence training, but I'm sure it would make you look even better! I've never seen anyone complaining after starting strenght training. It might be the solution for you :)

    you've done amazing. well done.

as everyone is saying strength training and maintaining would be a wise choice.... if you don't like the idea of going to gym and using the free weights, then I suggest buying a couple of dumbbells and trying 30 day shred. when you finish 30 Day Shred you will probably find you have "tone" up look leaner etc... perhaps once doing 30DS you could move onto insanity.

I'm going to really give thought to maintaing. Maybe when im more toned i won't feel the need to lose weight. Losing weight i've always been too cardio focused and i know i've gotten skinny fat as a result. I definitely will start lifting i'm not afraid to bulk or anything i just haven't sought out the info because ive been focused on calories in vs calories out.

Definitely get on board with the strength training (look up Zuzka Light on YouTube - there are loads of workouts on there that'd be perfect)

another vote for some sort of resistence training.

It doesn't have to be weights...it could be bodyweight exercises, circut training with hand weights or if you do want lifting heavy.

Strength Training! Build muscle, but be prepared for the scale to go up! I've gain 5 pounds but went down a pant size because of strength training! And for what's it worth you look amazing!

Considering you have gone down from 300lbs I must say your skin looks amazing! Did you do anything special along the way to keep it firm?

I'd start lifting and eating in maintenance mode now. You'll need more calories to build muscle but we can see proportions are good(maybe to some under) so I'd work on muscles that will help burn any remaining.

Congrats what an inspiration. From 300lbs?? THat is great.

You've done AMAZING!!! be PROUD!!! but I DO agree with the others, you NEED to strength train. As others pointed out, use the internet as resources and if you can afford it, get a trainer, even if it's just for a short period. or even go to Body Pump classes to get you started. You need the weights to build your muscles. You do have done GREAT girl!!! :flowerforyou:

Build thoses muscles girl. Try strenth trainning. You do what you feel, don't go by what everyone else says. If you are happy with the weight loss then do the happy dance. Congratulations.
