Chalean Exteme with an injured knee

I REALLY want to do ChaLean Extreme after hearing some great things. I have a very old knee injury that didn't bother me for 6-7 yrs, then I got so heavy it started bothering me again. I have been working out for 3 weeks, doing Hip Hop Abs, the treadmill, walking the dog, and some of the Slim in 6 and Flirty Girl workouts with a neighbor. I have been careful, and my knees are doing well. They both hurt if I try lunges or pushing off at an angle, but squats and everything else is OK.

Can anyone give me some advice? Does the workout involve a lot of lunges? Can it be modified and still work? Would knee braces help? I really want to try this program, and I am convinced that as the weight comes off, my knees will get better.

Hello! I don't know how much this will help you, but I do know that there are a lot of lunges in the Chalean Extreme program. There is one girl in the workout that shows modified versions of the exercises, but that is mostly just her using lighter weights and not lunging as deep as the others...........:flowerforyou:

I am currently doing ChaLEAN Extreme and have a knee with problems due to an old ski injury. There are lunges and squats all through out the program, however all of the movements are done slow and controlled, so I am able to guage my ability as we go along and modify where necessary. I've never stopped doing the squats and lunges, however on several of the exercises, she has you in a squat or lunge and then you lift up on your toes to also work your calves - that part, I do skip because I feel that I lose stability and it isn't worthing risking an injury that way. I have found that as long as I ensure proper form - keeping the knee over the foot at no more than a 90 degree angle - then I can complete the workout just fine. I haven't found the need to go lighter on any weights as long as my form remains solid.

    Hope this helps!

I'm on the Lean Circuit right now. Yes there are lunges involved and a lot of squats, especially in the Lean Circuit. There is a girl who always modifies it, though that you can follow. Or you don't have to do the lunges, just the arm workouts.

    Thank you, This was helpful.
I am going to go ahead and try it. I will be very careful to remember proper form and not go beyond my limits..
