Adderall and proper nutrition.

I'm trying to lose a couple of pounds, so I'm not looking to eat more that 1500 calories a day, but being on Adderall makes me not want to eat at all. I can feel hunger but have no mental desire to eat. It honestly feels boring, pointless, and slightly disgusting if it isn't fruit or raw vegetables. I want to exercise so that I can tone up, but how can I support that when I barely eat. I'm on the instant release which gives me a lot of time with it not in my system, but my appetite doesn't come back. If I skip a day or two I get ravenous, but I don't think eating those days makes up for my deficit during the week. Any advice on staying nourished? I am a pescetarian, but I'd prefer not to eat eggs or dairy. I also hate to cook.

How long have you been on the Adderall? Your appetite should return to normal after a few weeks. Your body should adjust to it. Have you talked to your doctor about this?
  • I've only been on it about a month. I told my doctor about it and she said the same thing, that it should return to normal. I think it will, I just have to wait it out. I should probably eat before it does though haha.

Yes, for some it's as quick as a 2-3 weeks, but it can take longer for other people. Your body will get used to it being in your system, so eventually your hormones levels will adjust accordingly and allow you to eat appropriate portions. Good luck!

Try to eat more calorie dense foods for now, like peanut butter, avocado, and nuts. Sautee your vegetables in oil/butter. Drink more of your calories (protein shakes with peanut butter, etc). That way you don't have to eat a ton in volume, or at a bunch of different times.
