Exhausted in the am. I'm into my third week last week I went over by two to three hundred calories several times, out of my one thousand goal, last week. This week I've been under by as high as a hundred. Not trying too go under but my calories just work out that way I try to find a nutritionists way to add to my dinner, since I don't eat until 15hours later for breakfast.
. I can't seem to reach my protien goal. Miss that usually running from
38 and highest of 54, usually somewhere In between. My carbs concern me as before starting I had livedon carbs, two bowls of cereal in the am and a bagel with cream cheese for supper,. And now I use 73 to 135, mostly in between. I am 49, weigh. 134 and 5 feet tall. Although I've taken much advice from others here, I'm still not reaching my protien level, and go alittle over on sugar. Here's the main problem: I used to wake up around seven am, I am currently waking up at nine or even later feeling exhausted after a deep sleep. I haven't started exercise yet.
Please give me some advice. Thank you.

Are you saying that you've manually set your goal to 1000 calories/day? And that you're having a hard time even reaching that?

My advice is to eat more.

Without knowing what you're already eating or seeing your diary it's hard to give specific advice. Try looking for calorie dense foods to add into your day. Nuts, nut butter, full fat dairy, ice cream, Greek yogurt, eggs, cheese, avocado, olive oil, coconut oil, butter, protein shakes, smoothies, and bars, etc.

I don't understand, what do you mean you don't eat for 15 hours?

I've been using the Venus system. It recommends a fast for 15 hours. This was or has not been a problem for me because I eat dinner no later than 5:30 and don't have breakfast until 8:30 or 9:00. That has just been my routine and it never bothered me before. Occasionally I would have a snack, usually a carb between 5:30 and 8:00. So when I read this on the Venus site, I just figured I'd continue on with it, and if I did need something 5:30 -8:00 I would choose a healthy snack. Are you thinking this is the cause of my exhaustion? And lack of motivation to try to work out ( not very athletic). Thank you for any advice you can offer.

I set my goal from the Venus program. I calorie count here on MFP, and aim for the total nutrients programmed for me here. I would eat more to reach the 1,000 goal but some of my other nutrients go over when I did this, especially fat and sugar, occasionally carbs, but never protien. I need to find what foods will help balance it all, I guess.
Still not understanding the waking in the morning after a good nights sleep, feeling exhausted.
Thank you again for your advice so far and hopefully more to come.

You should be eating at least 1200 calories. You're exhausted because you're not eating enough.
Eat protein like eggs, chicken, fish, beef.
Eat nuts and nutbutters for fats as well as avocado and olive oil.
Eat whole grains like breads, pasta and oatmeal.
Eat lots of veggies and some fruit.
Give yourself a treat but include it in your calorie goal.
    Drink plenty of water.

    Take some walks.

It doesn't really matter when you eat, as long as you stay within your calorie goal.

Thank you! I've read about the 1200 calories, my son in law a personal trainer says 1000 is no where enough. He says to eat healthy whole/organic foods, exercise and do not count calories. He explained starvation mode to me, and was quiet serious. But from the Venus program I bought it tells me for my body type age and height I should be eating 1000 a day to loose the Thirty I nerd to.
Do you think "starvation mode (I'm not extremely hungry) could have an effect on my fatigue? I don't fully understand starvation mode, if someone could please help me understand.
Could it be from the large amount of carbs I was eating, to the less I am eating now in the low hundred grams. Like is my body in some kinda shock?
And just a final note my sugar level is most of the time over 20 grams than the 45 I should be getting. I don't eat processed food 90% of the time, I guess it's coming mostly thru the fruits vegs and I'm not sure but the protien bars. Could this be part of my problem?
I am finding it difficult to choose the right balance of these healthy foods.
    Please still help! Thank you!

    1. Exhausted in the am.

    2. one thousand goal, last week.

    3. I don't eat until 15hours later for breakfast.

2 and 3 explain 1. You need to eat more. Never heard of the "Venus" system but I recommend listening to your personal trainer son in law.

Thank you all very much. I think I was looking for a fast weight loss. I should not of questioned my son in law, he is very good and has been doing this for years, besides his full time job of managing and training a country club fitness center, he also has about five clients on the side. I could really be getting advice for free. He wants me to eat to eat to slices of bacon or sausage with my am meal, that had me concerned. Think I will start tracking 1200 on my fitness pal and change it on Venus too.. Apparently something's wrong like you all stated. Thanks very much. I will post an update ion about a week.
