I was looking online at some weight loss articles and came across The Water Diet . This guy under a doctors care only had water for 6 days. In that time period he lost 16 lbs and somehow all his stiff joints , hearing , and smell improved. This is probably the funniest story I ever read, its great if you need laughs.

I think technically to call something a "diet" you must at some point ingest calories.

I'm on a revolutionary diet called the Food Diet. I eat pretty much whatever I like within a healthy calorie restriction in order to get to my ideal weight and body fat %. I am trying to reduce how much processed food I eat, but that is a personal choice and not a requirement of the Food Diet. Everyone should join me on this amazing diet!

Pfft, only weak people need 'water'. If you're truly dedicated you can live off of cosmic micro food ingested through breathing air.

It's fine if he's under doctor's supervision. One Scotsman went over a year with no food (but he started at over 400 pounds). He was given supplements and for some reason they gave him yeast for awhile, too. Never did figure that one out. He didn't regain the weight, either.

16 pounds? Half of what he lost was water, guaranteed. Glycogen depletion.

Anyway, the key words are: 'doctor's supervision' in both cases.

It's what you classify as food though. If you research into this case what actually happened was he was given copious amount of supplements. So yes technically he didn't eat but he still had to ingest vitamins and minerals from somewhere which he did as well as you say yeast

True, by strict standards he wasn't doing a water fast. Water fasters who believe it cleanses tend to stick to only distilled water from what I've read. But the Scotsman did prove you can live for a very long time on zero or virtually zero calories, if you have the fat stores and nutrients.

I'd love to see a followup. How long did he live? Is he still alive? Has he suffered unusual health problems or unusually fewer health problems?

Starvation makes you lose weight not exactly surprising or new information

Not if you ask the legions of "starvation mode" proponents here on MFP.
