This place is amazing and even though I don't know any of you, I love you all. :smooched: I've struggled with my weight all my life. A couple years ago I lost 90 lbs. and then the most amazing thing happened to me. I got pregnant with my twins. I had given up on ever having children. I'm sure that big weight loss had something to do with spiking my fertility. But, on the down side, I gained all of the weight back except for 5 lbs.

I've been on MFP for 3 weeks now (this is starting my 4th) and I've lost 9 lbs. so far. But you know what? I feel so amazing with the lifestyle changes that I've made that the weight loss is actually secondary. For the first time in my life, I'm making smart, healthy conscious choices about what I put in my body. I've learned so much from reading all the posts from the veterans here. It amazes me that not only can I eat and lose weight, but I NEED to eat to lose weight. Last week I watched my calories very closely and made sure I got as close as possible to my goal each day without leaving extra calories at the end of the day. When I weighed myself at the end of the week, I expected to MAYBE lose a pound. I lost 3!

I'm thinking about only weighing myself once a month or so just to make sure I can update my goals if needed because I don't want to be a slave to the scale. But I've got to tell you, those 3 lbs. sure are motivating me this week. I work full time and am a single mom to the munchkins so finding time for a structured workout is tough but as they get older, it gets easier and easier to work things in.

This place is amazing and I'm hooked! I can honestly say that my life has been changed.

Sweetandstormy (love the name btw), you will find that most of us here have similar stories (expect the whole pregnancy thing, I missed out on that somehow....:indifferent: ). That's what makes this community so awesome. I am very glad that you found us here, and I hope you know that we are all here for you no matter what. All you need do is ask.

You had me at "I work full time and am a single mom". So was my mom, so you are now my hero.

Pretty much all the other stuff you say, I second. (except for the whole pregnancy thing, which I too have missed out on.) :flowerforyou:

I have to agree that MFP has been the MAIN reason for my successful weight loss. I have learned SOOO much from everyone and it still baffles me that you can EAT TO LOSE!!!!! Didn't believe it at first but after 4 months of doing this now I know it works. I have failed in the past putting myself on this "starvation diet" and always hungry wanting to binge. Now I'm not on a "diet", it's a lifestyle change and I have a whole new outlook on food and eating healthy. I know I can still have the occasional treat or favorite meal and just fit it in to my exercise and calorie allottment. I have never felt deprived or like I want to give up. I'm not afraid of that scale anymore. I can look at clothes and not wonder if there's a size big enough for me AND I'm gonna be comfortable in a bathing suit this summer. For everyone trying or just beginning, keep at it, it works. I tell everyone I know about this site. It's the best free thing I ever came across.
I have never felt more confident and happy about myself. That in itself is worth everything I have done thus far. Thank you MFP and everyone on here!!!!

I know exactly what you mean! I joined with weightloss being my main motivation, but when that first 5 lbs came off, I could tell it! It's become secondary to me, too, because I think, wow, if I have this much energy now, imagine 6 months from now. My mini goal is to have lost 70 lbs by my birthday in November. I'm right on schedule!

    Yay for us! :flowerforyou:

Except for the pregnancy part I totally agree here. Well said. Good luck and keep it up.:flowerforyou:
