Do I eat when im hungry or eat to keep my metabolism going?

Im so confused now. I have a desk job during the day and I only get to workout in the evening.
I've been recommended by the majority of persons to have 5 - 6 short meals a day.

Ever since I adapted this concept, I find myself just confused whether to eat just to keep my metabolism going or eat when I actually am hungry.

I just keep watching the clock and eat every time the clock hits a specific hour. (i.e. 8am, 1030am, 1230pm, 330pm 730pm)


Your advice would be best!

    eat when you're hungry, 1 meal or 72 meals a day makes no difference. if you're in a deficit you'll lose weight.

    Eat when you are hungry - frequent meals do not have any additional benefit to your metabolism.

    Moving around certainly is beneficial, so if you are a desk jockey, try walking around the office more (don't ask colleagues to pass you things - stand up and get them).

    If you've got an elevator at work (avoid it).

    Your metabolism will tick along just fine, you don't even need to eat breakfast if you are not hungry.

    The time to panic will be if your metabolism ever stops (that would mean you would be dead).

    Don't sweat it too much.

    Move around, do a decent workout when you get time and eat when you are hungry.
