demotivated 3 weeks in

So i have been counting calories for 3 weeks and a half. yesterday and today I have just binged on crap and although I wanna keep going i really feel like i have just wasted so much effort and i basically cancelled everything out. All my working out and eating good seems pointless now. Its basically day 1 again.. what do I do now?

Dont get demotivated! It's hard, but no worries, start again. It took about two to three weeks, before i started to lose even a little weight!

I've seen a quote on here that goes something like this:

    Losing weight is hard
    Being overweight is hard
    Choose your hard

You haven't wasted anything. Sometimes calories are cut back to far or the choices of food is limited to greatly which almost sets someone up to binge. You might want to take another look at things. You might find you can do ok going back to eating how you were, you might find you need more calories in the day or a change in workouts. Or maybe something happened in your life and that caused a binge. Truly look at the why instead of stopping.

Also, I have read it's good to "confuse" your body with a binge day now and then. Which makes an occasional binge not a bad thing.

Start fresh with a new day and get going. You can do this. Find that fire of desire inside and get going. Drop the weight.

This is one of my favourite quotes from Batman Begins. I think we can apply it to most situations.

"Why do we fall Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up."

I bet you have been restricting yourself too much. Read those links, figure out your BMR and TDEE and eat in between those numbers.

You have 6 lbs to lose, you should aim for .5 lbs a week. If you have your goal set at 2 lbs a week, change it to .5 lbs. The closer to goal, the closer to maintenance you should be eating.

I binged yesterday, too. No big deal. It doesn't matter how "motivated" you feel. Success doesn't come from motivation...motivation is just the initial kick in the *kitten* your mind, body and soul give you for momentum. Motivation fades and your left with your own pure willpower that you have to wrestle with sometimes on a daily basis. It is what it is.

I heard this somewhere so not sure if it's true, but apparently, the 3rd week is when most people want to quit! Don't be one of those people! You got this!

Just remember that "nasty" feeling next time,
it has stopped me many times.
This is also a life process.
    You can do this!
    You are worth it!

No, you don't "start again". You continue. It is the mindset of one day of bad choices/bad actions equals failure that keeps people re-starting over and over and over again, finally to get completely demoralized and quit their efforts for good.

No, you just acknowledge some bad decisions (because decisions is what it is all about - what foods do I decide to eat, how much do I choose to eat, do I decide to workout today or do I choose to watch TV and munch cookies) and you continue to do the next right thing; you continue by making better decisions and choices today.

And for what its worth, I subscribe to the 80/20 rule - I make good, healthy decisions 80% of the time; the remaining 20% is life, cuz sometimes **** happens. If I follow this rule, I am guaranteed 80% success instead of 100% failure because I gave up after life/**** happens.

Ditto but for me starting over and continuing is about the same thing :p

It's not binging- it's reactive eating from restricting your intake the past 3 weeks. It's a survival thing! Humans don't exactly thrive during a deficit, so when there's food you're going to have that little voice in your brain saying EAT IT ALLL haha.

Good news is days like that are actually good for your system! Lets it know it can operate normally because you're still giving yourself food. When there's too large of a deficit, all systems like your digestive system will slow down (some, like your hair follicles and reproductive system shut down completely). So just enjoy all the food you had today and resume your diet tomorrow!
