Hi,

Im ahving Indian tonight and im wondering about the best indian choices.. I did get one great tip.. to say im lactose intolerant so no butter, cream etc will be added. I'd prefer something moist rather than dry tandoori chicken.

Any ideas?!!

  • Indian food, while an all time fav of mine is hard as the best dishes, imho, are the curries which are often laden in fat (oh, butter chicken. mmm). But their roasted veggies are often awesome, as are the lentil dishes. According to Nutrisystem (which is what I do) their advice is:

    Daal (lentil soup)
    low fat paneer
chapatti or roti (no naan or parathas or kulcha)
tandoori or tikka (although be weary, some tikka masalas have cream)
    lentils and veggies
    basmati rice

And good tandoori chicken wont be dry. And I agree that saying you are lactose intolerant will definitely steer you in a good direction.

Hey I love Indian and had the same problem a couple of months ago.

    Here are my thoughts:

    - Go vegetarian. Instantly drops out huge amount of calories and fat. Look for 'Paneer' anything. It's indian's Tofu, cottage cheese that has been tandor seared. Sounds gross tastes amazing!
    - Have a Roti instead of a Nan - they are made with wholemeal flour, and are generally a bit smaller :)
    - No rice. It just adds bulk to your meal and no flavour. If you can't do none at all half the portion they give you.
    - Add a green salad. A traditional indian salad has tomatoe, cucumber, red onion and carrot - all good to fill you up
    - Go as spicy as you can! I love spice so go Indian hot! But spice speeds up your metabolism (and gives your digestive system a flush ;)

Lactose intolerant is a good plan. My top Indian meal is Paneer Tikka Masla (with yoghurt, not cream), a Roti and a green salad comes to about 400 cals :)

Go for a power walk and then enjoy your dinner!! xx
