Stop buying 73/27. Get at least 90/10.

How would that make it healthier?

You can buy ground turkey from Aldi or Save-A-Lot for about $1.00 a pound. Can't get much cheaper than that. Trust me, I am on a major budget and I can still swing it.

If we're posting pics of burgers, I want in. I had this one earlier this week. It's got smoked gouda cheese, sauteed onions, jalapenos, bacon, and Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter. However, I learned after this that the White Chocolate Wonderful peanut butter is way better on a burger. Trial and error...

Did you hit that cheese with a torch? If so I salute your culinary skills, sir!

It wouldn't necessarily. I get that. But if they are making "low-calorie" synonymous with "healthy," then they might as well.

I need healthy low cal recipes for hamburger meat. 73/27. my dinner cannot be over 500 calories

Why can't it be over 500 cals?

Just make a smaller patty and use less cheese etc. Nothing inherently unhealthy about a hamburger

    This.

Find a leaner ground beef. It'll free up a lot of calories for you,

I leave out the bun ... or just use half of a bun.

My trick was to use healthier fillers ... or none at all! Just season the beef and cook it in a patty shape!

73/27 has 27gm of fat per 4oz. 90/10 only has 10gm of fat per 4oz.

What others have said - lettuce wrap. Rarely do I eat an actual bun anymore. I don't think the bun itself is all *that* good that I feel like wasting precious calories on one.

That is sad, a proper bun choice can really add to a burger

If you like a thick burger, you can mix the hamburger mead with finely chopped mushrooms (and onions and bell pepper if you like them--I don't). This will bulk up the size and still taste great.

What I do is make a smaller, thinner patty and then sautee mushrooms to put on top--again, to bulk it up with few added calories. Mushrooms sauteed in the burger pan are delicious.
