STARTING... AGAIN....

Ok.. this is the first time I have used any message boards for encouragement/help.
I recently bought a fitbit and went back to logging my food on MFP. The two together are really giving me a good insight and what I need to do.
I know I need to get moving. Last year I lost 30lbs. I was thrilled. The life stated getting into the way... like running kids everywhere... that dreaded baseball diamond food. Anyway I have gained back 10lbs. I am crushed I feel horrible. So I am trying to get back at it.
Here is the thing. Sometimes I'm so scared to eat. I'm a very picky eater ( but I have come a long way). So I have been trying new things.
I am definitely and emotional eater and I am learning slowly how to deal with it.

I just hate how I look and feel.
I need to do this for me and for my health. I found out a year ago that I was a type 2 diabetic. 40yrs old and I'm a type 2 diabetic.. because I'm fat.

I'm going to need you guys. I have a lot to conquer.
I weighed myself this morning and I am down a whole pound. I guess that's a start..oh did I mention I also need instant gratification...lol

I asked for - and received - a Fitbit for Christmas and made my new start. It has gone well. Take things one day at a time, focus on being active & eating well.

Found MFP a little later and I like logging food, etc. here.

Starting over again here too. I joined awhile back, logged everything and lost a few pounds then as you said, life got in the way and voila, the bad habits and the weight have come back. I am working very hard to get to a goal weight by July 12. My nephew is getting married that day and it will be the first time I will see some family members since my own wedding, 19 years ago. Believe me, I look nothing like I did then. I worked my butt off to get into my wedding gown and I intend to work at trying to lose of this weight again now. If anyone wants to add me as a friend, I am up for all the encouragement and accountability I can get.

May I suggest more compassion towards yourself?

In other words, you lost 20lbs and maintain that loss over a year! While one can always do better, that's an accomplishment. Why do you act as if the last year was a failure? Why set your ticket to 0 lbs lost rather than 20 lbs lost? IMHO, a successful journey isn't strictly about losing weight, but also fostering healthier attitudes towards food, our bodies, and fitness. These will help us to succeed long-term. :)

I am starting over too and from what I've seen of some of the replies- you're not alone in this. I love my fitbit that I use. We all have our reasons from straying, but the important thing is that we're back! ;)

You can add me as a friend too. I am 60 and a type 2 diabetic, I lost 35 pounds and gain 5 over Christmas and have been trying to get back on track ever since. I have damaged my kidneys from out of control diabetes so I have to keep my blood sugar under control or I will do further damage. So I think your very wise to loss weight and get health in your 40s before any damage has been done. I had the help of a friend but she has gotten to busy to keep up with logging her food and exercise. Maybe we can help each other loss weight and become more healthy.

    Awesome.. thank you all.
Yes I am very hard on myself. That unfortunately is my nature. I'm working on that too.
I watched my grandparents, my dad, and my husband turn into diabetics and what that did to them and I swore I would never do that. Well.. bad habits and 5 kids and I turned into them I'm the "big" girl of the family and I hate it.
My daughter bless her heart told me last night.. she was like mom.. on the nights the boys don't have baseball go to the gym right after work. I can watch the boys for an extra hour its no big deal. So next week on the day that the boys don't have baseball I'm going to go and at least do the 30 minute circuit.
My oldest daughter is in the Air Force and she is been on restirctions for the last 6 months or so because she hurt her knee. She told me over the weekend that she hopes to be off restrictions in the next month or so and they are putting her on a running program to introduce back to running at a slower pace. So she wants me to do it with her. I have always wanted to run a 5K so we are going to make it a goal and she said she will come home and we will run our first 5k together.
