Staying fit while pregnant

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and have been working out throughout my pregnancy. I currently work out 4-5 times a week, 2 days are bootcamp and the rest are light cardio with weights. Obviously I am not worried about my weight gain, since that is a part of being pregnant, but I would still like to tone my arms and legs. I am curious what exercises are favorites of those who are pregnant/have been pregnant. What does your fitness routine look like?

I am not currently pregnant but hoping to be in the not too distant future and definitely want to stay as fit and healthy as possible. I currently do two kettlebell classes a week and try to do another couple of workouts at home. I have seen lots of books and DVDs on fitness during pregnancy on Amazon which I might buy but I would be really interested to know what people are doing/have done to keep themselves fit while pregnant.

Congrats on the impending wee one!

When I first found out I was pregnant I was doing Turbo Fire which I continued to do but at a lesser intensity. Then I moved on to a Les Mills Pump and Les Mills Combat hybrid in my second trimester and finished up a modified Combat. It worked GREAT for me! Combat is awesome for your arms and legs due to the punching and kicking plus it helped to open up my hips (due to the kicks) which really came in handy for the birth (even my midwife commented on my flexibility and I didn't do ANY yoga or all-over stretching workouts).

Feel free to friend me! :)

I just walked and did some lighter dumbbell work for my arms. I also did prenatal yoga and it felt SO good. I also bounced around on my exercise ball for my hips. Swimming was also amazing. The exercise ball and swimming was more for relief at a certain point. haha

A woman at my Crossfit gym is about seven months pregnant and still doing workouts. Modified for lighter weights and to accomodate certain movements that aren't possible any more (like burpees, lucky her)

So long as you were active before, maintaining and active lifestyle should not be a problem.

Thanks everyone - really helpful! I'll chat to my kettlebell instructor too when the time comes and see what she suggests!

You have my utmost respect. I was far too exhausted during my pregnancies to even think about exercise.
