Stuck!

So I have been doing a good 45 minute/atleast 5 days a week of cardio. I was told when I first started that I should do 6-8 weeks of nothing but cardio and then start strength training after that. My question is...what in the heck do I do?! lol I know that my belly and arms and upper thighs are the worst for me...and I do not have a whole lot of upper body strength. Can anyone give me any kind of suggestions as where to start and what to do? I am so lost...and all of the machines at the gym never make sense to me, even after I have people there explain them. Any help is appreciated :D

    maybe not the best suggestion, but I'd just start with body-weight exercises while continuing the cardio until you find a more formal program you like. If you do them frequently enough with the right form and intensity you will make great gains. just google body-weight exercises easy as that

    Thank you for the suggestion. I really jumped into this head first without really knowing what to do. I know it wasn't the best idea BUT I am moving and losing :)
