Will it help?

In 2011 I was 20st, I lost 9st, kept if off for about 3 months then starting gaining. About July last year I weighed in at about 14st got the MFP app but didn't use it! In December I was 15st5lb, so the app became my new best friend. I am now at the weight I'd like to stay at, 11st7lb.
Think I already know the answer to my question, but will this app help me keep the weight off this time? Or can I stop using it? Although it's become such a habit not sure I'd be able to stop using it!

If you log your calories and stay at maintenance yes this app will help with that.

You can stop using it if you are comfortable with how much you need to eat...ie portion sizes etc..

I've been here just under a year and I am 1lb from maintenance but I wont stop logging anytime in the near future...

the app is a tool, and just like a hammer will help you build a house, it's really all about how the person is using the hammer.

    Really well said.

I like this hammer. Today is my second year anniversary of logging everything. Now that I'm in maintenance (it's been a year) MFP very rarely tells me I 'can't' eat something because I'm out of calories. It often remind me I SHOULD eat something because I am way under. But it always makes me more mindful of my eating in a positive way and has helped me learn more about the food I eat. It is part of my day, like brushing my teeth.

Thanks everyone, I already kind of knew if I want to keep this weight off I was going to have to continue using MFP but just needed to hear it from others. Guess I wanted to make sure I wasn't been unnecessarily depended on the app.
I'm beginning to enjoy planning my meals and really thinking about what I'm eating rather than just going to the fridge/cupboards and eating whatever's in there. Also a little easier on the bank balance too, helps not eating 2-3days worth of food in just 1!!
