nervous about new workouts

I had 2 surgeries so Ive not worked out since December.... fortunately for me, my weight stayed stable.... been within 3 pounds of my goal the entire time= MAJOR SUCCESS in MY book...

that said, Im adding back my "old" regular workouts... weight lifting ( StrongLifts), running 2-3 days, swimming 2-3 days plus biking
( Goal is to do 2 triathlons plus a Spartun Trail run before end of September)..

ALL of that exercise means I HAVE to increase my calories... which makes me NERVOUS!!!
to alleviate some of the stress, Im going to TRY to avoid the scale and just concentrate on whether my clothes fir properly or not....

wish me luck.... offer suggestions if ya have any... thanks

    Good luck.

I believe in physics. If you do work you need energy to do it. Why don't you try logging your exercise and eating back those calories? It takes a while to gain weight. Look at the scale. See how hungry you are. Trust your numbers and your body.

Congratulations! Sounds like you're on a great trajectory.
  • If you truly work out (weightlifting) that much, and you don't gain any weight at all, then you're losing fat and building muscle (given sufficient protein intake).

So even if you gain 1 lbs a week, you still wouldn't be gaining 1 lbs of fat. much less than that.
