How many Kg to lose per week?

I just started my diet and exercise schedule 20 days ago, I lost only 3 Kg in 3 weeks (1kg/week). I feel this is too slow. I see people following diets losing 3 Kg in one week.

Am I doing something wrong? is it water retention? or my metabolism rate is very slow :(

One kilo a week is considered pretty fast weight loss. Most people are lucky to lose half that much a week. Those people losing 3 kilos a week are losing water weight, not fat, and it's only going to happen for the first week or two, then they're going to slow down.

I lost 2 kilos in 2 days, and I wanted to ask if this was normal. I know it will plateau, but it just seems way too sudden. I am on a very low calorie diet, since I am really short and lead a pretty sedentary lifestyle, and I don't feel hungry (except at nights), even though I am a HUGE foodie, I used to eat a little of everything (lots of lollipops, chips, junk food, for example). Now I just count my calories and try to keep them under 1200 a day (plus whatever I burnt with light exercising). Do you guys think this is normal? Did you experience this in the beginning as well?

Generally, unless you're super-obese, less than 1 kg a week is a good goal. Even half a kg a week, my current rate, is a good and acceptable pace. Take your time. The weight didn't get put on at a kg a week (at least I hope it didn't), so you shouldn't expect it to come off like that either.

This isn't going to be what you want to hear.......

But I set my weight loss rate fir 1/2 lb per week which I think is about 1/4 kg.

Took me 10 months to lose 10kg.

Thanks everybody for the information. I do feel better now knowing I am not the "slow" one. :)
