Lifting at home -- How to begin?

Hello everyone.

I am a 27 year old female with a little weight to lose. I really want to start lifting heavy, and I want to do it at home. I do have a curl bar and some other weights and equipment, and I can also get more. I just don't know how to start or what exercises to do.

Does anyone have any advice for someone who is just starting out lifting heavy at home??

Thanks so much.

Do you have bench with a squat rack and press rack? Squats, deadlifts, bench, etc...

    1. Look up Starting Strength, New Rules of Lifting for Women, Stronglifts etc. Pick one.

    2. Get a squat rack, bench bar and plates. Use it for the above program.

    3. Get awesome!

Power rack, Olympic bar, Weights (you can buy used from Play it again sports(USA)), Fat Gripz, Olympic dumbbells, Gloves (if you don't want calluses), Floor pad (for deadlifts, bent over rows), chalk or Eco ball.

You don't need all this stuff initially. Get the first 3 and start lifting.

Thanks everyone! I'll get the basics, check out the programs and go from there. :)
