Pre-spinning meal

I'm beginning to struggle at spin class, I am overweight but I like to push myself to get the most out of my workout. I'm now having to hang back a bit because I'm feeling a little faint 3/4's of the way through and my heart rate is through the roof. What can I eat an hour or two before my spin class that will benefit me? I'm a lactose intolerant vegetarian so my choices are relatively limited.
Thanks!

have you tried a protein shake? I am going to guess your spin class is early, before breakfast-type-early?

No I haven't, any particular type? And its not actually! Its a 5.30pm class but I work nights so I technically only eat my "breakfast" around 2-3pm

How about oatmeal for some carbs?

What time of day is the class? What is your normal eating profile? A spin class shouldn't require additional nutrition if it less than an hour. I'd work on increaing your daily nutrition a bit so you are prepared. It could also be dehydration. Make sure you are drinking plenty before class and replenishing during...

As a quick fix, you can eat a handfull of raisins right before class the boost should hit about right... If you start feeling weak eat another handful.

I've been teaching spin for about 8 years now and spinning for over 10. I carry raisins with me when I go on long rides (>2hrs) for just such emergencies...

Good luck and feel free to message me with any questions. I'll do my best to answer them.

If you eat breakfast around 3, just eat a bigger breakfast and carb it up. Before my long rides on the weekends I eat Bacon, eggs, toast, potatoes, and fruit about 2 hours prior and then usually have a Cliff bar around the 1.5 hour mark and 3 hour mark (if I'm going longer than 3 hours) and have a big carby banana and berry smoothie for recovery when I get home.
