Hope this is my "last" diet.

I'm 62 but I certainly don't feel that age. And I think I'm finally getting it together. By that I mean it's time I do something for myself and that would be getting into shape and down to a reasonable weight. I don't like pictures of myself because I look fat, which I am, but who likes to admit that.

My husband and I have 5 kids that all live across the country from us. We also have 5 beautiful grandchildren, 1 girl and 4 boys. He is still working but we try to take a vacation twice a year. And we've been lucky enough to go on a couple of cruises. All of these and the possibility of travel and visits with family in the future are great motivation for getting into shape.

On the down side, dieting isn't a very warm and fuzzy thing. I don't like being hungry but so far have been every day. I wish there was some magic pill, but there isn't. And I've found that dieting has gotten me to the point where I wish there was just a pill for meals so I didn't have to think about those either. I love to chat with people and would welcome the support of anyone who's going through this or is still on the journey, because that's what this is.

Here's hope for us both and all the rest! I know what you mean about being hungry all the time. I talked to a dietician friend of mine and she said that you should eat when you are hungry and that means that the metabolism is working...so that is a good thing. I am using LOTS of fruits and veggies for the in between meal hunger and especially at night...that seems to be my bad time....it is working! So far so good!

    Hope that this helps!

    Keep up the good work!

Hi and welcome! This is a great site and has some great tools to help you on your journey to being healthy.

A couple of things--you should not be hungry! I have lost almost 100 pounds so far (not all on MFP) and never once was I hungry. It is taking time but this is a lifestyle change for me--something I can live with for the rest of my life!

The other thing is to find a group you like--we have one under Motivation and Support just for women 50+--you should check us out. Here is the link to the most current page--we start a new thread every month.:

Also, here are some helpful topics to read. There is a LOT of good advice from people who have been successful at this lifestyle change:

Good luck! You CAN do this!
