Getting Past the psychological scale??

I have seen lots of posts about getting past the scale. My first 10 pounds I weighed everyday and even several times a day just to understand when and how weight fluctuates, but now I have hit a plateau. I still weigh everyday and several times a day, and weight is fluctuating even though clothes are getting looser etc... It's not good enough for me! I want to see it on the scale! I still have 10-20 to lose. And because I have a weight goal, of course I want to see it on the scale! Just wondering how you get past that? How long does it last? For now, I know I want to focus on toning and getting rid of the loose skin and extra fat pockets that are oh so visible since the weight loss. I suppose that is one avenue, but does it eventually catch up on the scale?

Congrats on losing 10 pounds! But getting on the scale more than once a day (first thing in the morning) is pretty pointless. Weight fluctuates through the day and the last thing you want to do is have it in the back of your mind that every sip of water and morsel of food is going to matter when you hop on it at mid-morning, then at noon, then late afternoon, then evening, then right before bed. Whenever I start hopping on and off my scale more than once a day, I know I'm developing an unhealthy relationship with gravity.
And I hate to say this, but the first ten pounds tends to drop off faster than the rest. You don't have that much to lose it sounds like, so it won't be fast. If you manage a pound a week you're doing really good. Better to calm down a bit and be patient and learn everything you can about exercise, normal water weight fluctuation, and nutrition.0 -
Well, you have 2 choices:
a) Carry your scale around with you all the time so you can jump on it and show people you are losing weight;
or
b) Let everyone notice that your clothes are getting looser and comment on the weight loss they see
I always choose b. :drinker:0
