Measuring body fat - caliper question

Ok I bought a simple caliper (Accu-measure). The directions say to measure a skinfold just above the right hip. I did, it says I am 14% body fat. Maybe on my top, but I am definitely more body fat than that overall as most of it lives in my butt and thighs. I tried to grab a skinfold on my thigh to measure, planning on taking the average of the two. I couldn't grab a skinfold on my thigh as the skin is too tight there.
How do I use these things to get a more accurate measurement?.

Those are pretty inaccurate; meaning that brand not callipers per say. Going off 1 point of site does not represent ones BF. Most who are trained will do 7 or 12 sites as it's more accurate. Not easy to do on yourself either the more points you do.0
