So what is the deal with the hcg diet? I thought about going on it but the diet is a 500 calorie a day diet and that just cant be good. I know some people who have gone on it and lost weight, when I talked to the people at the GNC store they said that people lose weight but then they gain even more weight back. Has anyone here been on the HCG diet before? If so, what was you experience with it?

My sister-in-law was on it and lost a lot of weight, but as soon as she went off it she gained the weight back and then some. And you are right, 500 cals per day is not good for your body, and then when you lose what you want and then go to maintaining, your body isn't used to burning that many cals, so you gain. That's what I have seen, anyway. I don't know of anyone that has not gained after going off it... but maybe someone on here has? I am a fan of the old fashioned, healthy way. :)

Of all the thousands of diets out there, even the ones where you drop 100 lbs over night, will never work for you in the long run. You have to think about what got you where you are today. If you can't change your ways, you will always end up back to where you are and more than likely, be even have more fat on your body.

I keep telling myself that I didn't get this way over night, therefore I can't lose it over night. It will take time for it to come off, just like it took time to gain.

Stick with it! You can do it!
  • Any quick loss is surely to be a quick gain. Go for a healthy lifestyle and change your eating habits so that you can lose weight but also keep it off in the long run. Slow and steady seems to be the way to go.

Fad diets don't last 50 years.

E very ounce in my ticker was lost using HCG and my health is better than ever per my tests results with my doctor. Acid reflux - gone. Sleep apnea - gone.

Read 'Pounds & Inches' by the protocol founder Dr. ATW Simeons. The PDF is readily available and is in the public domain.

    Make up your own mind.

    fad
    [fad]
    –noun
a temporary fashion, notion, manner of conduct, etc., esp. one followed enthusiastically by a group.

HCG has been consistently used in Europe for every one of the 50 years since its inception. It hasn't gone away and come back like clothing fashions have like someone else mentioned.

Read a book and then come to class prepared.

I absolutely agree with you Rob- the proof is in the pudding so to speak. HCG has been around for many years and if you are true to the protocol the weight will come off and it is absolutely safe. And you will maintain IF you dont return to the habits that caused you to gain in the first place. It irks me how people will trash the diet without EVER doing any research into it.
They hear 500 calories and instantly make a judgement call -ignorantly. Well I did a month of research before starting the HCG diet and I have never had a moment of regret. I feel so healthy and my acid reflux has disappeared as well. My weight is down by 40 pounds and I have learned so much about healthy eating. I have no worries of going back to my old ways of eating and I know for a fact I will maintain just fine.... So for all the naysayers out there- please keep your opinions to yourself UNTIL you have educated yourself on it. Then you will have knowledgable opinions istead of lazy assumptions.
PS yes 500 calories will put you into starvation mode-but NOT when using the HCG drops as that is EXACTLY what they are for.

Every ounce in my ticker (and the 45lbs before that) was lost without anything but hard work, a good diet, and exercise. No health issues whatsoever.

To each his own, Rob. But there's no sense suggesting HCG is any better than doing it the natural, free healthy way. I myself cannot imagine paying for something I can easily do completely free of charge - it's just a matter of self-discipline, dedication, and patience. I also can't imagine putting junk in my body that I don't really need, but that's just me

Best of luck to you, OP!

Well of course. If you had made up your own mind, you would have reached the same conclusions as them! Surely no one made up their mind for them. It MUST be you....

OMG....I am SO not gonna waste my time on this silliness anymore.

If you wanna inject woman's hormones in your body....good lord....just do it already I don't know any guys that would want to but...hey...whatever floats your boat

What I don't understand is why we all have to AGREE with you on it, since when does the whole world have to agree on injecting hormones into our bodies? Either do it or don't I don't chose to risk my future health. If we chose not to that makes US wrong?

Yea uh huh..that makes a whole lotta sense....

well Hollywood has used it for their stars who got a little tubby on hiatus for years. All the Major studios. Liz Taylor used the spa in Rome among other big name male and female stars. And Drew Carey's recent weight loss wasn't the old fashioned method either.

This is also a way for the obese facing surgery to drop weight and reduce risks before their surgery dates. Surgeons recommend it for these patients--my mother was an OR nurse and i have family in the medical field.

It can be used as a jump start with medical supervision for the severely obese. Then the lifestyle change, maintenance and remainder of their lives are up to the individual. Not everyone wants to do gastric bypass and rearrange all their internal plumbing. Or lap band with it's followup saline injections...

there are medically prescribed reasons for this protocol.
