I need to lose some weight, I'm not to unfit, but I still need to lose weight. Preferably by speedo season in August :)

Want to find out if anyone else is aiming at August 1 and wants to keep me in check?

I'm a guy, 6'1" and I weight 230lbs, I should way sub 200lbs IMHO ideally 180lbs so I have a plan.

The idea of posting it here is to try to help me stick to it and find out if there are any other people in the "I need to get rid of the paunch" crowd in the south of England.

I'm not a huge fan of the only so many calories a day thing so but I do think if I have a stable weight at X calories then if can cut 200, 400, 600, 1000 calories from that or burn some with exercise, I have to lose weight.

So here is my plan so far.

It is 3.8 miles to work and I cycle it once a week most weeks, I'm going to try to do it 3 times a week, British weather allowing. 540 calories a day, 1080 calories a week

Breakfast is usually two slices of toast with marg on it, weighing in at 222 calories, changing that to mini shredded wheat and milk 170 Calories. Saving 52 calories

Lunch is usually a combo of 2 sandwiches, crisps and a can of coke through between 10am and 3pm, changing that to one sandwich, crisps, can of coke (can't give up my one soda) and an apple. That loses me 236 calories for a sandwich and gains me 80 back from the apple. Saving 156 calories.

Dinner is a work in progress, got to look at this.

Evening, I drink too much, lets just say I should be able to save myself 200-300 calories a day with a cut down, more if I stop completely, but more importantly the drinking usually leaves me grabbing some cheese and crackers or similar. 465 calories.

So I should be able to reduce by 154(1080/7)+52+156+200+465=1027 calories a day! and hopefully get fit.

So thats the plan, has anyone else ever looked at it like this before?
