im currently trying to lose weight and have been doing so , but now I want to build muscle too (not loads just so I can have more visible abs and more toned arms etc) but what types of food should I eat to do this ? obviously more protein but what about carbs and fat ? some places say to eat less carbs and some say eat more ? so confusing
im 147 pounds if that has any relevance haha

Its nearly impossible for the general public to gain muscle AND lose fat. Your diet would have to be on point and it takes a very long time to do so.
Visible abs are from losing fat not gaining muscle. As long as you have a layer of fat on top of the muscle you won't see the abs. Toned arms are on the same shelf, There is no such thing as "tone". Either you have low body percentage or not.
If you plan on building muscle...you will gain some fat also from the bulk. You must be eating at a surplus to accomplish this.0
