I work 40 hours in a hospital as a nutritional support worker, mainly on my feet all day/walking back and forth, would this class me as active? I work 5 out of 7 days of the week

As extra i do 15-20 mins of cardio (exercise bike) per day and do a 3.30 minute squat session as well to help my thighs
I do alot of walking as well outside of work
I do log my exercise calories, but never eat them back, should i?

Thanks

im also 5 foot 10

It would really depend on how much walking is involved. If it's only a few minutes at a time and you spend quite a bit more with a client, then I would probably say lightly active. But if you put in quite a bit of time walking around, then feel free to use active.

You would then include how many days a week you work out.

As for eating back calories, it's a individual option. I don't, or at least try not to. But some days I'm hungrier than others so I eat back some. Some people say eat back 50%, but again, it depends on whether or not your nutritional intake is enough to support your caloric output.

pick one and stick and with it for a couple of weeks, if you aren’t losing weight then reduce your calories, if you are loosing weight to quickly (more then a pound a week) then increase your calories)

its up to you whether you eat back your calories or not, if you are not eating your calories back then you will just have to average it out over a week. The key thing is that you loose weight in a controlled and sustainable way.

Try it out for a few weeks and you will soon see if you have chosen the right level...

i am in kindergarten so I chose the lightly active option when I first started...dropped too much weight too fast and was starving chew my arms off hungry despite eating back exercise calories. Changed it up to active, lost at a better and more sustainable weight, better kJ's but still hungry so then I upped my kilojoules manually after investigating TDEE and BMR. Dropped weight at a great pace and had foot to eat. Yay!

It seems I was more than lightly active despite the description given for it saying professions on their feet such as teachers...we are all special snowflakes in Kindy Class :D
