Hi all! I'm hoping that joining this site and message board might give me what I really need to stick to a weight loss plan --accountability. I'm not a very self-motivated person when it comes to this stuff so I think the added support + checking in will really help! ![:) :)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I'm 45 years old, 5'4 and weigh 146. I wouldn't say I'm petite, more medium-boned, I guess. Broad shoulders and hips but small wrists and ankles. I'm a size 10-12 and want to get down to a 4-6. Most of my life I have weighed between 120 (in my 20s) and 125-135 (in my 30s and 40s). I had the great fortune to spend some time living in eastern Europe where I could afford a personal trainer, an hour a week. I have NEVER dropped weight so steadily and consistently. It was fantastic. I didn't even diet---just cut out bread most days, and didn't drink alcohol. I went from 154 to 129 in about 3 months (from size 10/12 to 4, 31 jeans to 27. I'd LOVE to get personal training again but here in NYC it's more than twice what I paid in Europe! I have a gym membership but getting myself to go is tough; and I do yoga ---not as consistently as I should.
I don't think I have any questions right now, but I'd love to hear from people who have a similar amount of weight to lose and are in the same age range--not extremely overweight but suffering that middle-age bulgy, saggy, frump.
My biggest problem area is my stomach--even when I've been quite thin I NEVER had a flat tummy. Always had that pooch. Oh well. Anyway, hi!

The only one that can do it is you. I'm sure you know that. We can't make you go to the gym. You have to really want this.
So it's a decision. Every day it's a decision.
Stay heavy?
Get fit?
Time will pass either way.
The tips I have are start with small sustainable changes.
Believe in yourself.
Know that you can do it.
It may help to write down all the reasons why you want to get fit.
Best of luck.
ETA: I was not trying to be discouraging, just being honest. You can do this. Make the decision. Make it every day.0 -
