Hello,
I am boiling some eggs and I only want to eat the whites and not the yolk. How do I correctly log this if I cant find it in the database?

it is in the food database. I found it under hard boiled egg (whites only) or something similar to that. I believe one has 17 calories, no fat, and 4 or 5 grams of protein0

Being a nosey parker but surely not on their own, right?0 -

Mother nature cries when a yolk is thrown out0 -

I just dip them in soy sauce, goes great together. Probably be good with salsa as well (I know salsa goes great on omlets)......I may try that soon.0 -
I like Frank's Red Hot Sauce on my boiled eggs.0

I used to work with a bodybuilder who did shows- he would come in every morning and crack one dozen boiled eggs in the sink, and suck down the whites, then throw a dozen egg yolks in the trash.
Nasty to watch, and nasty to smell. He tried the bottled ones in his protein shakes once, but hated it. He liked to eat them. I love eggs, but that almost turned me off them completely.0 -

I can't toss yolks. I do sometimes supplement with the boxed whites to add protein or volume to an omelet.
But on topic, the best entry is "eggs, whites only, raw" or something very similar. It's the best because (1) no asterisk, which means it's one of the USDA one input by MFP. When there's a perfectly good "official" one like that, it's a shame there's also a million more extraneous ones. And, (2) you should get in the habit of weighing raw when possible. Here, quite likely, you will just estimate from the size of the egg--the difference will be minimal--but for other items, like meat, it's best when possible to weigh raw, as weight changes depending on how long you cook it (and the database doesn't know how rare or done you like your meat). It's a little confusing at first since a lot of people think they need to use the entry that corresponds to how they ate it, but the calories don't change based on cooking method, the weight does, so the state when you weighed it is what matters. (If you have to weigh it cooked, cooking method--at least dry vs. not--matters, since it affects the weight.) Also, some of the cooked entries are stuff people put in based on their own items, and who knows whether they are right or if they included oil for cooking or seasoning, etc.0 -
Why no yolks? Especially if you're pairing the whites with fat and calorie high peanut butter toast?0
