My son has an app on his iPhone where he tales pictures of his plate of food, and somehow the actual calories are notated. I looked it up online and it seems to be MealSnap. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/meal-snap-calorie-counting/id425203142?mt=8
I have a Nexus 5. Do you know if anything like SnapMeals is available for Android?

"Oh yeah, we give you a rough estimate of the calories you ate too."
Not good enough.
Food scale all the way.0 -
I wouldn't trust that0

Without a scale , it's just a guess.0

My son told me what it is; I think it's a rough guesstimate, but it sounds like it would be good for going to a restaurant where I have no clue how to log a meal. He has it on iOS but I found it for android. MealLogger. I haven't tried it yet. Have any of you tried something like this?0

Aww foo. I downloaded the app. All it does is take a picture of your food so you are aware of what you ate and eat more mindfully.0

I do the same thing when I eat out so I don't have to kill myself trying to figure out every ingredient so that I can estimate it when I am supposed to be enjoying the meal. Then I look at it when I am ready to record and start estimating from there. It helps me a lot I'm sorry the app you got wasn't what you thought - that would be a cool app if it was accurate for sure!0 -
Kold, it actually is a good idea, I agree with you. From what I was reading, there is another app like this, and as you say, it is not at all accurate.
I think this finally tells me the answer to what to do when I go out to eat at a restaurant. Makes sense; if I don't log it here, at least I can look at it and get an idea instead of driving myself crazy trying to figure out what ingredients are what calories.0 -
Sinister, yes, I use a food scale too! I am a little OCD about it0
