Keeping Track of Calories Burned?

What's the best way to figure out the number of calories burned during exercise etc? It's probably a simple answer, but if you've never done it, and no one has shown you... Thank you in advance!

Depends on the exercise. There are multiple calculators online. I have a chart I use. I take Cals Burned (gross) - Cals I would have burned sitting on my *kitten* = Net calories.

Some folks will say heart rate monitor. That's awesome if
1. You can afford it
2. You are OK with wearing while doing an activity.
Personally the HRM's drive me crazy.
