What's the best way to figure out the number of calories burned during exercise etc? It's probably a simple answer, but if you've never done it, and no one has shown you... Thank you in advance!

    you mean the tdee equation?

    http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/

that is only a guess though, the only device on the market clinically proven to be accurate is the bodybugg/bodymedia fit

There are a few ways depending on the exercise but you have to remember it is all estimates.

Log time and exercise here in MFP and expect it to be high by 25-50%
Use the calories burned from the machine if using one ie treadmill...again expect them to be high by 25-50%
    HRM...again estimate
HRM with chest strap best for steady state cardio
Apps on smart phones but again high estimates

Do not try to use anything for weight lifting..just doesn't work.

Thank you! The reason I was asking is because I felt that the numbers MFP gave me seemed a bit high...

Do HRM's track calories as well, or do you figure it out yourself based on the HR info?
