Do accessory lifts really make a difference?

I've been working out at home, strength training 2-3 days a week. It's been probably almost 2 months since I started this particular routine. I've been able to progress on my compound lifts, but I'm finding that I'm not really able to progress on some of the accessory lifts, especially for biceps/triceps, mainly because the next weight up is just too much of an increase. Should I just lower the number of reps I'm shooting for on those exercises or ditch them completely?
