Bike racks for hatchbacks

Hello,

I'm not exactly sure where to put this, but it involves bikes so I'm putting it here. :flowerforyou:

I have a 2012 Honda Fit Sport (hatchback) and am looking to get a bike rack. There are a ton of trails in and around my area I'd love to go to, and I'm going to a wedding in July in the Outer Banks that I'd love to take my bike to for the non-wedding portions of the trip. I live in the DC area, so that's about a 5-hour drive. Do any of you have recommendations for a bike rack that would fit 2 bikes on a hatchback? If possible I'd love to bypass the hitch mounts since they can get expensive, though in the long run I want to do what's best for my bike and my car. Any suggestions would be most welcome! Thanks!

    After much research, a failed rack (or 2) from Amazon and a long talk with my bike shop, I ended up going with the Saris Bones 2 and I'm happy so far. I like that it has 6 tie down points (rather than 3).

    I have a Ford Focus and it fits perfectly.

    Good to see it fits over most spoilers too - I have one on mine. I'll probably talk to the local bike shop and see what they have to say.

    The issue with the spoiler is not fitting over it, it is the attachment point. The trunk racks have two straps that normally attach where the trunk lid meets the body of the car. On your Honda Fit, because it is a hatchback and has a spoiler, that slightly interferes with the attachment point of the 2 top straps.

    This is the one I bought when I had a hatch back...

    I live in Canada and bought it at Canadian tire for like 50$...works like a charm.

    and it fit over the spoiler.
