needing to exercise?

I started calorie counting 5 weeks ago. Started at 248 and have lost 15.5 lbs. I have a 1 year old and work full time. At the moment I have no time or energy to exercise. I know I will need to eventually but I was wondering are there any successes from those who haven't exercised? I'm hoping come the end of July to start running again. I previously did c25k and could run 10k and do 4 spin classes a week before I got pregnant. Can anyone give me some hope in the meantime please?

Weightloss is just about a calorie deficit that can be done through food or exercise or a mixture of both. It's advantageous for health and to help retain muscle to exercise but if you cant you will still lose weight.0

I found that after I had lost 15 pounds or so, I felt better and was able to make the time to exercise. I work full time as well, in addition to having 3 young children, so I understand how difficult it can be to make time for yourself.
Try starting off small. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park your car at the far end of the parking lot. Take an extra lap around the grocery store after you've finished getting all your groceries, or deliberately go back and forth throughout the store as you get your things.
Good luck!0 -
I lost about the first half of my weight exercising quite a bit... Then I reinjured my back so my exercise came to a halt .. I have since, after a couple months started walking again but I probably lost half my weight Not Exercising at all !!! So to answer your question YES .. Make sure Every Day ends with a calorie deficit !!! This Is Very Important and really the only way to lose weight....... Exercise is very important as stated by others here, so start doing something when you can. You'd be surprised how easy it is to walk and you probably already do some.. Good luck, you can do it if you put your mind to it !!0

Yes, and it wouldn't surprise me if you're burning a lot more than you think having a young one to chase after!0

Congrats on the loss so far. You could try taking walks with your kid, just something around the block, or playing outside together. Go swimming.
All the little things helps, you will soon get more energy to try new things.0 -
Try Shaun T's T25
They are only 25 minutes per day. You will exercise a lot of muscles simultaneously by compound exercising.0 -

Is that a good place to start when you haven't worked out at all in over a year? (If. I read the first post correctly)
Seems a bit intense.0 -
no energy to exercise....exercise gives you energy...it's that catch 22...
I started with 20mins walks...nothing too fast or far...or did Wii just dance some bodyweight challenages...
All these things are pretty easy and quick.
I then moved to 30 day shred.
Fitnessblender.com has some great workouts too.0 -
I found that I lost absolutely fine without exercise but the more I lost the more I felt bored and wanted to get up and go places. I read somewhere that it's 80% diet and only 20% exercise so I wouldn't worry and just spend those calories enjoying life!
Most recently, I find that I am exercising 3 times a week but I do tend to eat a lot more on those days and if I have a week of decent exercising I don't lose weight. I think this is a combo of exercise making me hungry and building muscle. So if I know I definitely wanna lose, I will cut down my exercise and stick rigidly to my calories.

Thank you very much all.0

You don't need to exercise to lose weight. I lost 70+ lbs without any regular exercise.0

I think when people say they have no time or energy that is just an excuse (I am not referring to you OP, just a general statement). Working out and fueling your body with the right amount of food will give you energy. Everyone has at least 10 - 20 minutes several times a week to workout.
Either way, it is not needed for you to lose the weight. Calorie deficit is most important.0 -
everyone needs to exercise for health.
you don't have to kill yourself in the gym to get the health benefits of exercise. You just have to do any kind of physical activity that gets your heart beating hard, makes you breathe faster and puts weight on your bones.
and yes doing exercise makes you feel more energetic. If you're out of shape just start gentle and build up how much exercise you do and how intense it is over time. The fitter you get the easier it'll be.0 -
Take the kids for a walk. Lots of cals to burn that way.
Also take a look at this site, as she has 100 or so bodyweight workouts.
Even if you can't find the time to do all of one set of them steal a exercise or two you can do when you get a chance.
Also silly things like lifting the baby from the floor to overhead, and then back down, works.
Lay on the couch or floor and lift your legs to straight up, then back down. You can do it while watching tv.
Take the stairs
Dance with the baby in your arms.
Planks...takes minutes, and works.
Do jumping jacks while waiting for the microwave. Or jog in place, or burpees.
etc.
Just move in any and all ways.0 -
It's def about starting small! There are definitely days I don't wanna work out bc I am exhausted by everything. I have a 30 minute Jillian Micheals dvd and even if I don't have a ton of time to spare I get that done. 30 minutes of blood pumping working out every day is worth it!! You have to decide what is most important to you , working out 30 minutes at the end of the day when you feel like you cant do anymore or being unhappy with yourself day in and day out. You got this!!! You CAN do this! Make it happen!0
