This goes out to all WLS patients:

I'm 5 months post gastric bypass, and I'm averaging between 900-100 calories daily. What are you avering? I'm been wondering lately if I'm too low, too high, or just perfect. Would love to hear from you.

    Hi,

I originally posted a reply in haste and before reading that it was targeted towards WLS patients. I tried to delete it, but the message board wouldn't allow me to, so I've updated my post to clarify (deleting my original content). I apologize for the inconvenience.

You should check with your surgeons office on this matter. Everyone's program is different. I would say unless you are stalling in your weight loss, eat as less as possible.

You only have one honeymoon period. Honeymoon period for most is 12 to 18 months out. I still recommend contacting your group.
  • You're fine. Don't kill yourself. Minimum for women is usually 1200.

I have to agree with Mollie. Check with your surgeon. I had lap band 2-1/2 years ago and they tell me to eat between 800 to 1000, regardless of how much I exercise. So it sounds like you are doing great.
  • I'm 8mos out, I aim for 1200cal/day but usually end up 1000-1400 (if I've been exercising a lot) I eat when I'm hungry and dont really worry too much about calorie intake as long as I'm getting enough protein and feel good. If I'm tired and cranky, I'll eat :). But definitely call your doc or nutritionist for better advice though. Every program is different and I know of a few in MA that say no calorie counting necessary.
